Who are the driving forces behind Romance Festival?

Why is there no book fair in Belgium dedicated to the romance genre yet? That is the question we asked ourselves. Because: it is high time—darn it—that the genre is rescued from the doghouse. Long live love, long live romance.

We are Laura, Silke, Emma, and Vincent. Each with their own background, but with a common denominator: a love for books. And yes, also a little bit of love for each other. Because as former colleagues, wehad been looking for a way to continue working together for quite some time.

Laura Landers

As a (dark) romance author, she knows better than anyone how fast the genre is growing. With that in mind, and to promote her genre, she is co-organizing the Romance Festival. People still too often think of sappy pulp romances when they hear the word 'romance'. And that needs to change!

Silke De Backer - Silkeblogs

Digital and social media marketing? Both hold no secrets for Silke. As a successful influencer, she knows better than anyone how to reach the right people. Spotted a viral trend? Silke saw it first.

Emma Vanspauwen

A lover of romance books, editor, and perfectly bilingual: Emma ensures that every text hits the mark within Romance Festival, in both Dutch and English. Currently fangirling hard for the series 'Off Campus'.

Vincent Jespers

Event manager by day. Uh, actually by night too . And gosh… now by weekend as well, now that he joined the organization of the Romance Festival under slight coercion from Silke, Laura, and Emma. But: with his extensive experience in cultural events and their organization, he is an asset to our team!
